Sunrise weatherman James Tobin meets Floral Edge in Port Douglas
On the weekend, Floral Edge seized an amazing opportunity to appear on the television program Sunrise while weatherman James Tobin was presenting live in Port Douglas! Here’s Floral Edge owner Michele Hill with James and our model ‘bride’ Rachel Smith carrying a bouquet of anthuriums with tropical foliage and dodder vine. We also created a matching head piece which everyone adored. It was an early start to the day, but well worth it!
Melissa & Jim Marry in Port Douglas
Floral Edge recently had the pleasure of arranging wedding flowers for gorgeous couple Melissa and Jim…
Melissa wanted a classic posy and we selected a stunning combination of pink and white lisianthus, honeymoon roses and Bianca candy roses, with some added pink and green tones…
The wedding went off without a hitch, and the happy couple say it still feels like only yesterday!
Thanks for being such a wonderful couple to work with – and we’re so glad you were thrilled with your flowers.x
“Thank you again the flowers where exactly what I imagined! The colours and tones worked beautifully with the whole theme of the wedding. Thanks again – I recommend your florist already to anyone looking to get married in Port Douglas.”
– Melissa
Saint Mary’s by the Sea, Port Douglas
Port Douglas is spoilt for choice when it comes to wedding venues, and many Floral Edge brides simply can’t resist Saint Mary’s by the Sea. The church was first constructed in 1911 from the remains of the Port Douglas Catholic church that had been battered by a cyclone. It was restored in 1988 and relocated to Rex Smeal Park on the foreshore.
The church is surrounded by some truly breathtaking natural scenery including the Coral Sea and the famous Far North Queensland rainforests. A magnificent glass altar window allows visitors to enjoy the stunning views from within the church itself. Floral Edge is lucky enough to be located just down the road from this exquisite spot.
Port Douglas Wedding Reception Ideas
Every wedding reception should have a theme, whether it’s personal or simply something you love. We recently assisted with the styling of a wedding in Port Douglas, transforming Salsa Bar & Grill with an elegant and simplistic, vintage, country feel.
Daisies, hyacinths, and lisianthus placed in vintage milk bottle jars served as table decorations…
Beams and posts were decorated with flowers in the same vintage jars used on the tables…
Bride Chelsea had an ‘Amore’ sign made with bunting and a matching bouquet of roses sat close by…
The wedding cake had precious porcelain toppers that were loaned to the bride by her grandmother..
And, of course, those all-important floral accents from Floral Edge!
Bride Chelsea was thrilled with the overall look:
“It was so nice to walk into the reception and have it exactly as I imagined. It really was my dream wedding and I was so lucky to have had such talented professionals around me to make it happen.”
Another Stunning Port Douglas Wedding
Port Douglas really is the place to be for beautiful weddings…
Gorgeous Sujata Baskaran travelled up here from “down south” and selected stunning bouquets of hot pink and white orientals, for herself and her delightful attendants. With thanks to Rob from Port Douglas Wedding Photography for these images from the Sugar Wharf and St Marys Church.
Adelaide Bride, Port Douglas Wedding
We recently had the pleasure of working with gorgeous Adelaide couple Lauren and Patrick, and received some lovely feedback from the mother of the bride. Thank you!
“I thought I would express our thanks for the wonderful bouquet you made for Lauren. As we are from Adelaide we expected it all to be very difficult arranging flowers via e mail. Luckily Lauren found you!!!! The roses, size of bouquet, colours - everything really, was spot on. Lauren was absolutely delighted. It was a wonderful romantic wedding and the flowers highlighted the beauty of Lauren’s dress. Thank you so much for a fantastic job.”
- Cheryl Appelby, (Bride’s mother)

The newlyweds were blissfully happy! And yes – the flowers did turn out beautifully…
A Port Douglas Wedding Thank you
Local tourism dynamo Chelsea sent us the most wonderful thank you after her recent wedding:
“Thanks again for making our day so special. You were so spot on with everything I needed, and you knew what I want, even if I didn’t know at the time! I had so many compliments on the flowers and decorations, and I have you to thank for that. You really helped me make my dream wedding all come together.”
And you were wonderful to work with, too, Chelsea. Thanks again. x
A stunning bride…stay tuned for more images…
